The application to the PhD program in Physics and Astronomy starting from 1st november 2017 (duration 3 years) is now open.

Applicants should have a degree of Laurea Magistrale or an equivalent master degree or obtain it by the end of October 2017.

The University of Milano Bicocca, the Physics Department and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics offer twelve (12) fellowships, one is explicitly dedicated to applicants with a degree obtained abroad, three (3) fellowships are related to specific projects (more info here).

Three places without scholarships are also available. One place is linked to the project "Search for byond Standard Model Physics with long-lived particles at LHC" (in collaboration with the Laboratories DESY in Hamburg, where part of the research activity will be carried out). One place without scholarships is reserved for applicants with a degree obtained abroad.

The deadline for application is July 3rd, 12noon, 2017 (Italian time zone).

The online procedure requires first to register on the university web site to obtain your credentials (username and password) here (click on Registration under paragraph ‘Students’). Please make sure to apply for your credentials at least 7 days before the deadline for the application to the PhD programmes, in order to have enough time to get your credentials and then apply on line for the PhD programmes.

Once you have the credentials, you must login here (click on login under paragraph ‘Students’) and select "Admissions". 
Citizens from Non-EU countries who do not hold a residence permit (as per art. 39 of Legislative Decree no. 286 of 30/07/1998 as amended by Article 26 of Law no. 189 of 30/7/2002) are exempt from the €10.00 fee for participation in the competitive examination.  

The interviews are scheduled for July 24th to July 27th 2017.

The results of the qualifications assessment will be published by 20 July 2017 on this web page, together with a breakdown of candidates in the examination days.

Please note that all candidates intereseted inthe project "Search for byond Standard Model Physics with long-lived particles at LHC" should apply to the ordinary places (not to those reserved for foreign students only), independentely on their diploma being obtained in Italy or abroad.

The applicants are required to upload their CV, 2 presentation letters and a short description of a possible research project through the online student secretaries (SIFA-italian; SIFA-english). The specific topic of the submitted project is not a constraint about the actual project that she/he will undertake during the PhD program. PLEASE NOTICE THAT the applications and the required documents must be uploaded through the official site of the Universita' di Milano-Bicocca.
